From Wildlife Photography to Animal Artwork
I’ve always loved photographing animals.
Whenever I’m travelling, my camera is never far away. Whether I’m visiting a wildlife sanctuary, exploring an animal park, travelling through a national park, or simply coming across wildlife somewhere unexpected, I’m always ready to capture the moment.
Of course, not every photograph turns out perfectly. Sometimes I’m lucky enough to capture that one special shot of an animal, and other times I’m left with a blurry photograph of another animal disappearing into the bushes!
But over the years, I’ve collected a growing library of animal and wildlife photographs that I truly love. Each one brings back a place, a journey, or a moment I was lucky enough to witness.
The funny thing is, most of these animal photographs were simply sitting on my phone or computer for months and years.
Every now and then, I’d scroll through them and think, “I really love this one.” Then I’d move on to the next photograph and, once again, leave it hidden away on a screen.
Eventually, I started asking myself: Why should these memories stay hidden?
Why not turn some of these photographs into animal artwork and bring them to life on my walls?
That’s how the idea began. To take the wildlife and animals I’ve encountered on my travels, from sanctuaries and animal parks to wild places around the world and turn those captured moments into wall art that can be enjoyed every day.
I began experimenting with ways to transform some of my favourite photographs into animal artwork and wildlife paintings. Rather than simply leaving the images as photographs, I wanted to give them a more artistic and timeless feel.
Some images have been developed into artwork inspired by oil paintings, bringing out the character, texture and atmosphere of the original photograph. Others have been transformed into striking pieces of animal wall art, designed to capture the personality and beauty of the animals I encountered.
What started as a collection of photographs stored on my phone and computer has gradually become a growing collection of artwork.
And now, through DGC.in, I’m able to share these pieces with others. The photographs I once kept hidden away are being transformed into wildlife artwork, animal art and oil-painting-style pieces, available to bring a little of the wild into your home, office or personal space.
It’s More Than Just a Photograph
What I love about my animal photographs is that they bring back the memory of being there.
I can look at a photograph and remember the place, the weather, the excitement of spotting the animal, or even how long I had been waiting for that particular moment.
One of my favorite shots might simply be an animal looking straight into the camera. Someone else might see a nice wildlife photograph, but I see the whole experience behind it.
That’s what makes these photographs special to me.
Choosing My Favorites Wasn't Easy
Once I decided to turn some of my photographs into animal wall art and wildlife artwork, I realized I had a problem.
I had way too many favourites!
I started going through my photographs and trying to choose the ones that really stood out. I wasn’t necessarily looking for the sharpest or most technically perfect image. Instead, I was looking for photographs that had character, emotion and a story behind them.
Some of my favourite animal photographs even had a little motion blur. Rather than seeing that as a flaw, I felt it often captured the moment perfectly. The movement, energy and personality of the animal.
I began imagining these photographs as wildlife wall art, animal artwork, oil paintings and canvas paintings. Pieces that could bring the beauty and character of wildlife into a home, office or personal space.
I looked for photographs that made me stop scrolling, brought back a particular memory, or simply made me want to look at them again and again.
Those were the images I wanted to see every day and ultimately, the ones I wanted to transform into artwork that others could enjoy too.
Seeing Them on Canvas Was Different
There’s something about seeing one of your own photographs printed on canvas that makes it feel completely different.
On my phone, it’s just another image among thousands of others.
On a wall, it suddenly becomes something.
It becomes part of the room. Something I notice when I walk past it. Something visitors ask about.
And because I took the photograph myself, it feels much more personal than buying a piece of wildlife art from a shop.
I know the story behind it.
My Walls Started Telling My Stories
Once I had a few animal photographs printed, I started thinking about them differently.
Instead of seeing them as separate photographs, I began seeing them as little reminders of my travels.
A wildlife portrait could remind me of an early morning somewhere far from home. Another photograph might take me back to a completely unexpected encounter on the road.
Slowly, my walls started becoming a collection of memories.
And I really like that.
My home doesn't just have artwork on the walls. It has pieces of places I've been and moments I've experienced.
Some of the Best Photos Were Unexpected
One thing I've learned from taking animal photographs is that you can't really control what happens.
You can wait patiently, find the right spot and have your camera ready, but the animal decides what happens next.
Sometimes you get an incredible photograph.
Sometimes you get absolutely nothing. And sometimes, completely unexpectedly, something happens for just a few seconds and you manage to capture it.
Those are often the photographs I treasure most. They remind me that some of the best travel memories aren't planned.
Why I Love Having Them Around
I think that's ultimately why I decided to turn my animal photographs into wall art.
It's not really about decorating my home. It's about keeping those moments alive through some oil paintings as well.
Every time I look at one of the photographs, I remember where I was and what it felt like to be there. And there's something pretty special about that.
A photograph that was once buried somewhere on my phone is now something I get to enjoy every day. I still have hundreds of animal photographs sitting on my computer, waiting to be discovered again.
I'm sure quite a few of them will eventually end up on my walls too.
After all, if a photograph brings back a great memory, why keep it hidden in a folder?
